Hello! As we transition into Spring, it is time for new makeup; darker shade of foundation, new concealer, bronzer, self tanner… Since I have purchased and tried so many new makeup products recently, I thought I would review them in this post. In addition to that, I am sharing some of my all-time favourite beauty products! Enjoy!
I have been using this foundation ever since it came into the market last year, and so far it is the best foundation I have ever used. I love how it has a creamy texture and is weightless, hence does not appear caky on my face. It offers full coverage (unless you have a giant soul-sucking pimple, which to be honest, I do get occasionally), and has a matte finish, which is perfect for my oily complexion. For the shade, I use 302 during Winter & Spring and 303-304 during Summer & Fall (depending on how tanned I get). When wearing the 302, if I want more bronzed/darker skin, I will just apply a bit more bronzer. This trick really helps to save money instead of constantly buying different shades of foundation throughout the year.
I have never needed to purchased concealer before since my foundation was always enough to cover any blemishes. However, this year my pool-pimples (what my coworkers and I call our pimples that arise from the highly-chlorinated pool water at work) have gotten more severe and I needed another layer of product to help conceal them. I asked around and everyone agreed that Nars was the best brand of concealer, and so I purchased it. I am happy with the results and really gives me that extra coverage. I only use it sporadically and only on the areas that need it. This prevents having too many layers of makeup on my face so that it does not look caky.
I have been using eyebrow pencils by L’Oréal ever since I started filling in my brows around four years ago. I like this particular recipe because you do not need wax to seal the product in, it last all day and does not smudge in water (perfect for when I am teaching in the pool!).
This is my all-time favourite mascara! Mascara, in my opinion, is the most important beauty products a girl can have. I have definitely shopped around looking for the perfect recipe until I found this one. It brings and volume and length I look for without clumps. I like to apply three coats per eye, in order to achieve my desired eyelash length.
This is the waterproof version of the previous mascara, and it is even better! It gives me even longer lashes with almost no clumps. I wear this one quite frequently since I am in the water teaching most of the time, and holds up really nicely. For sure has my 5-star rating!
For eyeliner, I usually only tight-line my upper water line. I find that wearing liquid eyeliner above my lash line weighs down my eyes and makes them appear smaller. I like this particular eye pencil since it is smooth to apply and does not smudge or leak as much as others I have used in the past.
I have recently discovered this product and absolutely love this as an alternative to a full face of primer, foundation, and concealer. When applying, I can immediately see it blending away any blemishes, evens out my skin tone, and reduces the visibility of pores. It leaves me with clear skin and a very natural-looking makeup. I usually do this type of lighter makeup for the gym, for work (when I am in the pool), or during hot summer days.
This is my all time favourite bronzer! It applies very smoothly onto my skin and leaves it feeling soft. It is the perfect shade of bronzer, leaving me sun kissed and not too orange. I usually only use the matte or satin finish bronzer since my skin is oily and usually already looks shiny.

My current favourite blush (middle palette) is from the Elizabeth Arden 2016 Holiday Blockbuster. Unfortunately, it is no longer available for sale. The blush is the perfect shade of pink for my skin tone and leaves my cheeks a with a natural rosy glow. I mostly use the pink shade to the right-hand side of the palette.
This has been my favourite eyeshadow palette since last year. I use it almost on a daily basis (unless I am doing my “fast no-makeup makeup look”). The pigments come out really well on my skin and the powder is soft and applies easily. #1 and #2 are always my go-to colours, either for a very subtle eyeshadow or for the base of other colours. #3 is used along my upper-lash line to create a smudged eyeliner look (I find that it adds definition and volume to my lashes). Lastly, #4 is sometimes used as a highlighter in the inner corners of my eyes or above my upper lip to give the illusion of plumper lips.
This is my all-time, absolute FAVOURITE bronzing product! It really gives me that deep tan that I am looking for without turning orange. It applies really well with the applicator mitt (I really recommend using it, it is the best method of application). It keeps my skin smooth-looking and hydrated without being sticky. Also, I work at a highly-chlorinate pool, thus a chlorine-resisting self-tanner is necessary. This one has proven to be the best, and does not come off in the water. During the summer, when I am in the pool 10hrs a day, it will only start to come off after 4 days (which I think is really good considering the amount of chlorine and dry skin that flakes when working at a pool).
