Welcome back! I have decided to introduce a new mini-series to my blog: the Timeless Capsule Wardrobe. It has been a long-time coming, so I am excited to finally be sharing it with you all.

As you know, I am currently in university and am living the life of a broke student 😦 My reality involves working 30+ hour weeks to be able to pay for school out-of-pocket as I go. My goal is to avoid student loans in order to graduate debt-free. It is doable, however it is challenging and takes great discipline in order to maintain a tight budget.

Unfortunately, as much as I love fashion and beauty, I do not have the funds to afford all the luxuries that I desire. Therefore, when shopping, my philosophy is putting more money towards one item with high quality that I know will last me a long time. I am not a fan of fast-fashion; buying multiple cheap clothing items of low quality that do not last long. You might get a couple of wears out of them before having to purchase a whole new item once again. This shopping mentality not only exhausts your money, but also your time. Time that could be spent at your job working and making more money (increasing your cash inflow), instead of spending more money (increasing your cash outflow).

With that in mind, I have chosen a few items that I find every wardrobe needs, but that create a variety of timeless outfits. The whole point of a capsule wardrobe is to exploit as many different outfit combinations with a select number of clothing items. The trick is to buy neutral pieces that can alternate well with each other.

Every week, I will be posting a continuation of this series, focusing on a certain type of clothing item. First one to come will be about coats, jackets, and blazers. Stay tuned!

OOTD: Cable Knit + Button Down

Shop this look: Tommy Hilfiger shirt (sold exclusively at Costco; similar here) | Zara button down | Kensie jeans (oos; similar here) | Guess belt (different colour here) | Aldo bag (oos; similar here) | Chanel brooch | pearl earrings

I am loving this look for Fall! It is so preppy and put together, yet can be so casually styled, as seen above with a basic pair of skinny jeans. Conversely, this look could be worn with dress pants or a pencil skirt for a business-style outfit appropriate for the office. I paired this ensemble with pearl accents, as seen by the Chanel brooch, ring, and earrings. Lastly, I decided to wear my burgundy tote, as to give a pop of autumnal colour. In addition, this look is very easy to recreate. Essentially, you could wear any colour cable knit sweater over any colour button down, paired with any bag. The combinations are endless! Let your inner fashionista shine through!
